Clippers, Lakers interested in Chris Paul

NBA Rumors and News | HoopsHype (2)

I keep hearing that Chris Paul, if he actually makes to free agency at some point, would draw interest from the Clippers as well as the Lakers. Paul’s desire to play as close to his L.A.-based family as possible is well-known, but I’m told interest in bringing him to the Lakers might not be unanimous within the organization despite Paul’s well-chronicled friendship with LeBron James.

As noted above, teams have tons of conversations about potential trades at this point in the league calendar. Several teams, including the Mavs, have checked in on Jerami Grant’s situation in Portland. Grant, 30, is entering the second season of a five-year, $160 million contract with the Trail Blazers.

A product of Parker, he has made the NBA All-Defensive team in consecutive seasons. Now he’s a first-time champ after averaging 15.2 points on one of the best statistical starting lineups in recent memory. During a week of celebration, several of his former teammates shared memories of White’s Colorado beginnings. “I think he’s the new Chauncey Billups,” high school teammate Avery Carlson said. “He’s the new face of Colorado sports that really takes pride in where he’s from.”

White’s well-documented lack of college offers led him to a $3,000 scholarship as a preferred walk-on at UCCS. His talent and IQ were evident, but the team’s vision was for him to fill out his frame while redshirting the first year. Preseason workouts forced a change of plans. “It was like he was born to play basketball,” said Jordan Carter, who was entering his junior year at the time. “He was just so much better than the rest of us. There was no way we could stop him. We were much bigger and stronger. It didn’t matter. His team would win every drill.”

Nurse hopped on “The Draymond Green Show” and was asked about any changes the league could make to the regular season and he said he’s here for it as Green suggested possibly shortening the season: I think I would be in favor of that. I don’t know how it all works out logistically, monetarily, all that kind of stuff, but I certainly agree with your point. Like, here’s what I would say is you go back and say ‘Oh, man back in the early 90s, these guys played all 82 games’, but it was like you dribbled down they throw it in the block and two guys stand—you know—there was a lot of standing around. It was not anywhere near what it is now. Everybody kind of can do everything now. Right? Everybody has to guard everybody. Everybody’s got a guard on the perimeter. Everybody’s gotta guard the 3. There’s a lot more transition. So I think the activity level and and just in general, like if the pace is twice as fast, it means we’re doing twice as much probably, right? So the chances for injury and all that stuff should be twice as great as well. Right?
