My Opinion:

This cookbook has a number of recipes that intrigued me from my first look through. The premise is simple; incorporate “super foods” into your diet to live a longer, healthier life. These foods are those eaten in the parts of the world where people live the longest. They include vegetables, legumes, fruits, seeds and nuts, coffee and tea, whole grains, and extras like cocoa and extra virgin olive oil.

Ms. Bauer breaks her book into classic sections like Morning Meals, Breads, etc, Soups and Salads, and so on. In each of those sections you find super food takes on classic recipes like chicken and waffles and tortilla wraps. You won’t find fat filled, empty calorie recipes; the waffles for example are made with zucchini and carrot shreds with a little bit of flour to bind. The chicken is oven baked (or in my interpretation air fried) and the finished dish is very tasty.

The recipes are well written and easy to follow. I haven’t found any strange or hard to source ingredients which is always a good thing. The book emphasizes using fresh and seasonal ingredients and you will find vegetarian, vegan and meals with meat inside. I’ve tried several so far and have enjoyed every one.

It’s a great book for a beginner or someone who has been cooking for a while.
