What is better than cooking with a passion for the one you love?
If you want to delight the palate of your feline friend, here are eightrecipes for catscookies (some of them using catnip).
Please note: weights are expressed in grams (100 gr = 3,52 oz) and liquids in milliliters (100 ml = 3,38 oz).
1. Cookies With Tuna and Cornmeal
Ingredients:
- 170 gr of pureed tuna
- 125 gr of wheat flour (1 cup)
- 125 gr ofcornmeal (1 cup)
- 1 beaten egg
- 80 ml of water (1/2 cup)
Put wheat flour and cornmeal into a bowl, then add the beaten egg, water, and pureed tuna.
Mix the ingredients until the mixture is compact.
Roll it out with a rolling pin and cut out the biscuits with a knife or with shapes.
Bake the cookies at 180° C for 20 minutes.
Let cool before serving to your feline friend.
2. Tuna Crunchers (With Catnip)
Prepare the following ingredients:
- 280 grams of tuna in water (1 cup)
- 250 grams of wheat flour (2 cups)
- 1 beaten egg
- 2 tablespoons of catnip
Puree the tuna and mix all the ingredients, to a firm dough.
Roll it out on a work surface flattening it with your hands and cut out cookies with a pizza cutter.
Bake the cookies on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper for 10-13 minutes at 180 degrees.
Keep them in the refrigerator.
3.Cat Treats
Consider these cookies as a“reward” for your four-legged friends.
Be sure to prepare:
- 180 grams of wheat flour (1 1/2 cups)
- one-half teaspoon of catnip
- 120 ml of milk
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 egg
Pour into bowl the wheat flour and catnip.
Apart mix the egg, honey, milk, and melted butter.
Combine all ingredients and mix to form a firm dough.
If necessary, add a little bit more flour.
Roll out the dough, cut out the cookies and bake at 180° C for about 20 minutes.
You can store the cookies in a vacuum container or freezer.
4. Crunchy Tuna Cat Treats
Here is a recipe for crispy cookies for your cat, to keep in a glass jar.
This is what you are going to need:
- 140 grams of drained tuna
- 125 grams of oat flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of dried catnip
Put all the ingredients in the mixer or in a bowl.
Blend all of them, or in the alternative, just the tuna, adding the little by little the flour.
Mix to obtain a hom*ogeneous mixture, to be spread with a rolling pin.
Cut out the biscuits and bake at 180° C for 10-12 minutes.
Keep them for up for a week in a vacuum container, for storing in the refrigerator.
5.Homemade Cat Cookies
Here is another recipe to please your four-legged friends.
Ingredients:
- 170 grams of canned tuna, undrained
- 40 grams of cornmeal
- 40 grams of wheatgerm
- 40 grams of whole wheat flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Puree the tuna, pour all the ingredients into a bowl, and mix with a fork, until a firm dough.
Roll out the biscuits with a rolling pin, cut them with a knife or with the molds, and bake at 180° C for 15-20 minutes.
Keep them in the refrigerator in a vacuum container.
6. Chicken Flavored Cat Treats
This recipe is for cookies with chicken.
Here is what you are going to need:
- 250 grams of chicken cooked and shredded
- 120 ml of chicken broth
- 130 grams of wheat flour
- 150 grams of cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Pour all the ingredients listed into a bowl, and stir to obtain a hom*ogeneous mixture.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, cut out the cookies, and bake at 180° C for 20 minutes.
Keep cookies for cats in the refrigerator for up to a week.
You can even decide to freeze a part of them.
7. Cheese Biscuits for Cats
To prepare the cheese cookies for your cats you will need:
- 100 grams of wheat flour
- 100 grams of whole wheat flour
- 100 grams of chopped cheese, Cheddar or Emmental type
- 50 g of corn flour
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- water
Pour in a bowl the flour, cheese, and oil in.
Mix and pour with water little by little, until the mixture is easy to work, to be spread with a rolling pin.
Cut out cookies with a knife and cook in the oven at 180° C for 15-20 minutes.
This recipe does not contain eggs.
8.Tuna & Nori Cat Treats
Here is the last recipe of this article, for treats with tuna and nori:
- 170 grams of canned tuna
- 60 grams of whole wheat flour
- 30 g of cornmeal
- 5 tablespoons of nori (dried seaweed)
Puree the tuna in a bowl and add all other ingredients.
Stir to obtain a hom*ogeneous mixture.
Roll out with a rolling pin and cut out the biscuits with the molds.
Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 15 minutes until you see golden brown biscuits.
If you don’t want to cook, buy directly some Catnip Cookies.
